OPPORTUNITY: CLIR Invites Applications for Digitizing At-Risk Audio and Audiovisual Materials

Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) invites applications for the thirteenth cycle of its Recordings at Risk grant program, which supports the digital reformatting of at-risk audio and audiovisual materials held by nonprofit academic, research, and cultural heritage organizations in the United States and Canada. Grants fund preservation-focused reformatting of analog and select digital media formats; applicants must work with a qualified external service provider and demonstrate that materials are at significant risk of loss.

Cycle 13 is open November 3, 2025–February 24, 2026, with applications due by February 24, 2026, for projects beginning September 1, 2026. The program website provides detailed eligibility and format guidance, information on allowable costs, links to informational and Q&A webinars, and a step-by-step application workbook designed to help organizations draft and refine their proposals.
