CFP: Open Education Southern Symposium

The Open Education Southern Symposium, scheduled for October 1–2, 2018 at the University of Arkansas, is now accepting proposals for presentations, panel discussions, and lightning talks. From the announcement:

We welcome proposals from organizations, including colleges and universities of all sizes, community colleges, special libraries, and any others involved in open education and open pedagogy. We’re particularly interested in proposals with topics centering around:

  • Adoption and creation of resources
  • Publishing platforms
  • Best practices and the impact of Open Education
  • Creative Commons, copyright, and other licensing
  • Marketing and advocacy
  • Pedagogy and student success, including K-12 highlights
  • Instructional design strategies for OER
  • Trends and innovation
  • OER in community colleges
  • Tenure, promotion, and OER
  • OER community building
  • Assessment
  • Inclusion and diversity in Open Education

Proposals are due May 31, 2018.

Sarah Melton is Head of Digital Scholarship at Boston College. Her group explores and documents new tools and supports teaching and research in a variety of areas that utilize broad methodologies in the digital humanities. She is interested in questions of digital infrastructure, the philosophical underpinnings of ”openness,” and the intersection of public history and digital humanities. She has worked with Open Access Button for the past several years. Sarah holds a PhD from Emory University’s Graduate Institute of the Liberal Arts.
