October 2024: The dh+lib Review is seeking applications for 3-4 Review editors and 1 Technical Editor.
Review Editors (3-4 positions)
Review editors take an active role in shaping the content that appears in the dh+lib Review, as well as contributing to strategic discussions about our workflows and future directions for the publication. Responsibilities include working on rotation to manage the biweekly production effort (selecting items from nominated content, authoring/publishing posts) and, when not on duty as a shift editor, providing occasional editorial support with the other editors. Due to our editorial calendar, most of this activity takes place on Wednesday evenings/Thursday mornings, and Review editors often collaborate informally and have infrequent editorial meetings throughout each semester.
Each editorial appointment will be for a term of two years with options for renewal. We anticipate new editors will be trained during the fall and most likely begin Review shifts in spring 2025.
Technical Editor
The Technical Editor focuses on revitalizing the dh+lib Review website and maintaining the underlying architecture. The website is built on WordPress, hosted on Reclaim Hosting, and requires rebuilding an original custom theme. The Technical editor plays a significant role in researching and testing add-ins to enable publication efficiency, such as determining newsletter options. The role will require knowledge and experience working with web CMS backends like cPanel, HTML/CSS, PHP, and database structures, and understands dh+lib’s scholarly communication experimental ethos. This appointment is expected to begin ASAP and will last for two years with option for renewal. Their work is expected to be the most intense for the first several months in order to implement the website relaunch so that our regular editorial work can resume during spring 2025.
