CFP: ACRL Digital Scholarship Section Virtual Professional Development Program (Spring 2021)

The ACRL Digital Scholarship Section’s Professional Development Committee, in collaboration with both the Outreach Committee and the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee is seeking proposals for its 2021 DSS virtual professional development series (free), which is tentatively set to begin April 28, 2021.

From the call for proposals:

This virtual program aims to bring together people from a variety of institution types and at different stages of their career, to discuss what digital scholarship looks like across the profession. We are looking for both individuals and groups who can speak to different models of digital scholarship practice at a variety of institution types. We encourage submissions from all backgrounds and levels of experience, whether you are part of a team at a center or a solo digital scholarship librarian with digital or data-centric materials.

Based on the results of a recent survey of the DSS community, the committee is particularly interested in proposals that explore one or more of the following elements of digital scholarship:

1) Elements in the lifespan of a digital project (e.g., data management, project preservation issues, sunsetting a project, or assessment of a project’s impact)

2) Collections as data

3) Intersections of social justice and digital scholarship / humanities

4) Ethics (security, privacy, bias, etc.) in digital scholarship / humanities.

Submissions can be for collaborative panel presentations or individual lightning talks. Proposals should explore a case study or model of digital scholarship work and address collaboration (internal and/or external), challenges and opportunities, issues of sustainability, and any best practices you may have developed. Interested panelists should consider how their digital scholarship practices align with the Digital Scholarship Section’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. Panelists should be prepared to engage in anti-oppressive behavior during the session, as articulated in the DSS Community Agreement.

SUBMISSION TYPES
