Jake Gibson (Pratt Institute), Project Manager for the Virulent Hate Project, has published a Python script for generating an index of files and folders within a Google Drive directory using the Google Drive API. Hosted on GitHub, the script is openly licensed and may be valuable for Digital Humanities practitioners who similarly use Google Drive for data storage or project files on their own collaborative digital projects.
The Virulent Hate Project, led by Dr. Melissa May Borja (University of Michigan), is an ongoing multi-institutional, “interdisciplinary research initiative that studies anti-Asian racism and Asian American activism during the COVID-19 pandemic.” The project team has catalogued and analyzed over 4,300 news articles, identifying both incidents of anti-Asian racism in the news as well as acts of resistance to anti-Asian racism.
