The Open Environmental Data Project has announced an opportunity for a cohort of 15-20 individuals to participate in a year-long Data Stewardship Learning Circle. This program “invites a cohort of environmental data stewards and community scientists to come together to tackle real data governance challenges. Members of the cohort learn practical strategies and test new tools alongside peers facing similar questions about how to protect, manage, and amplify the impact of community-generated data.”
The opportunity is open to individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Are involved in environmental or climate justice,
- Are generating or using data, and
- Are working on projects in the United States.
Each of the seven cohort meetings will focus on a different theme related to environmental data stewardship, including data ownership, governance structures, data security, advocacy, and more. In recognition of the time and energy committed to participation, participants will be provided with a $400 stipend.
Applications to participate are due March 29, 2026, via this form. Find a full FAQ and more details about the program on the opportunity webpage.
