FUNDING/OPPORTUNITY: 2025-2026 H-Net Spaces Cohort Program

H-NET Spaces invites applications for its 2025-2026 Cohort Program. This program supports projects that are still still in the early stages of development and/or scholars in need significant support and hands-on training in DH methods. The program provides additional support to scholars seeking to build a digital project with H-Net Spaces. Projects are open access and benefit from guidance by H-Net staff and mentors with a focus on project management and sustainability.

From the call for applications:

While anyone is welcome to apply to the Spaces Cohort Program, we are especially interested in projects that are:

  • Being developed by early career scholars, graduate students, or contingent faculty.
  • Interdisciplinary.
  • Designed to meet specific, targeted needs in a field of study.
  • Multimodal.

Project authors accepted into the H-Net Spaces Cohort Program:

  • Receive up to $500 in seed funding to support their project development.
  • Receive hands-on training in digital project development on the H-Net Commons.
  • Attend monthly meetings that include both training sessions and co-working sessions.
  • Present their final Spaces projects at a virtual roundtable event with fellow cohort members at the end of their cohort cycle.

Applications open May 1 and are due July 1 (11:59 p.m. U.S. Eastern time). Decisions will be made by August 1. H-Net accepts 4-5 new Spaces Cohort projects each year.
