JOB: Digital Humanities Librarian, Rutgers University

The Digital Humanities Librarian will:
– Provide leadership and instruction within the Libraries on the creation and curation of digital objects for the humanities in all formats, fostering collaboration among scholars, technologists, and information specialists.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct environmental scans of humanities departments in conjunction with subject librarians and special collectionsĀ curators in order to identify current and emerging scholarly projects for which digital tools and methodologies areĀ appropriate.
  • Coordinate information about digital arts and humanities scholarship on campus in order to connect scholars across theĀ disciplines and facilitate interdisciplinarity.
  • Identify and evaluate current and emerging digital tools and methodologies supporting humanities scholars inĀ collaboration with Digital Initiatives.
  • Provide expert consulting service to humanities scholars and students on techniques and tools that serve to advance theirĀ teaching, learning and research.
  • Serve as a strategist and resource person for the Libraries on trends in the digital arts and humanities.Ā 
  • Collaborate with staff managing the Librariesā€™ digital repository, publishing and reformatting programs, to advance theĀ Librariesā€™ contributions to faculty and student research projects in the arts and humanities; work with the Head of DigitalĀ Initiatives to create strategies for collaboration, program planning, and supportfor interdisciplinary digital projects.
  • Work closely with the Head of the Fine Arts Library, the Data Management Services Librarian, the Geospatial InformationĀ Librarian, and the Head of Digital Initiatives, and others in order to develop strategies focused on scholarsā€™ digital productionĀ and curation needs.
  • Create an education program for Librariesā€™ staff focused on digital arts and humanities topics.

JOB: Lead Academic Programmer, UCLA Center for Digital Humanities

Reporting to the Academic Technology Manager, the Lead Academic Programmer architects and writes code for humanities and digital humanities projects, and provides project management and development team oversight for designated projects. This includes three primary areas: web development, instructional programming, and faculty-driven digital research projects. Ā The incumbent works with faculty and other campus partners to develop selected projects; advises faculty on project requests and grant proposals; and manages complex development and integration projects, including user needs assessment, workflows, design and analysis, application development and systems integration, testing, implementation, and documentation.

The candidate has robust programming skills (XML, PHP, Python or other scripting languages required), and preferably a PhD in the humanities; candidates with a strong humanities affiliation and highly developed programming skills will also be considered. The Lead Academic Programmer is expected to have a high level of technical competence overall, including one or more sub-fields of digital humanities (e.g., geospatial analysis, TEI, data visualization, topic modeling, network analysis, etc.). Prior experience in supporting and contributing to digital humanities projects is desirable.

JOB: Executive Director of Digital Scholarship Services, Rice University

The Executive Director of Digital Scholarship Services (DSS) is part of Fondren Libraryā€™s executive team, responsible for the oversight and management of scholarly communications, the institutional repository, the Digital Media Commons, the Kelley Center for Government Information & Microforms, and the GIS/Data Center. The Executive Director of DSS will work with faculty on digital projects and collaborate in securing grant funding to support digital library and digital humanities research. Serving as the Principal Investigator on grants, the Executive Director will be responsible for the overall management of grant-funded activities in DSS.
