EVENTS: Three Summer 2026 Digital Humanities Institutes

Several digital humanities institutes will be held in 2026, offering a wide variety of training opportunities for researchers, students, and GLAM workers.

The Digital Humanities Summer Institute East (DHSI-East) will be held May 5-8, 2026, at St Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia (Canada). Three workshop options are available to participants this year: Project Management in the Humanities, Research Data Management for Humanities Researchers, and Digital Publishing in the Humanities Classroom. Early registration ends on March 15, 2026. A limited number of Accommodation Grants are available to help subsidize the cost of attending for students, BIPOC participants, and under-employed participants; the application deadline for accommodation grants is February 28, 2026.

Dream Lab, “a kind of Digital Humanities Summer Camp designed with grad students and early career humanities professionals in mind,” will be hosted by the University of Pennsylvania from May 26-29, 2026. Six classes are offered for Summer 2026, including Black Speculative Digital Arts and Humanities, Critical Making, and Digital Humanities in the Classroom. Early registration ends May 1, 2026, with lower course registration rates available for students.

The Digital Humanities Summer Institute (DHSI), running June 8-12 (Week 1) and June 15-19 (Week 2), will be hosted by the the Centre de recherche interuniversitaire sur les humanités numériques (CRIHN) and at the Université de Montréal (Québec, Canada). Anticipated course offerings for DHSI are available now on the institute website. Early registration ends on March 1, 2026, and regular registration ends on May 1, 2026. Reduced registration rates may be available for participants coming from a DHSI partner/sponsor institution.
