The Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen (KNAW), University of Amsterdam (UvA), Vrije Universiteit (VU), and IBM have prepared a white paper as part of a partnership aimed at developing a Center for the Humanities and Technology (CHAT). CHAT seeks to “create new analytical methods, practices, data and instruments to enhance significantly the performance and impact of humanities, information science and computer science research.” The paper, “Meaning and Perspectives in the Digital Humanities,” identifies five opportunities for the humanities as well as five core technologies necessary to realize these opportunities:
- cognitive computing
- network analysis
- visualization
- visual analytics
- text and social analytics
- search and data representation
