CFP: 2026 IIIF Online Meeting

The International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) seeks proposals for its upcoming online meeting, to be held January 27-29, 2026. The meeting will focus on a “Working and Learning theme, with a program built to provide attendees with a look into new and innovative IIIF projects, implementations, developments, and tools, as well as opportunities to learn new skills.”

Recommended formats include lightning talks (7 minutes) and online workshop/training sessions (up to 2 hours). Lighting talks are expected to be “pre-recorded, though presenters are asked to be present during the online meeting if possible to participate in Q&A following the presentation.”

According to the CFP, the following welcomes are particularly welcome:

  • IIIF implementations featuring unique or uncommon collections
  • Using IIIF material for Machine Learning and AI
  • Implementations of IIIF outside of North America/Europe
  • IIIF in the classroom
  • Annotation use cases
  • New tools and platforms

This CFP will likely be of interest to many digital humanities library folks, given the recent rise of IIIF-supported DH tools. The conference would also prove to be a good learning opportunity for individuals looking to gain a better understanding of the IIIF standard and different ways of working with IIIF material.

Proposals are due November 3 via the submission form.
