RESOURCE: Reddit AMA on Digital Preservation

Trevor Muñoz (University of Maryland) and Janel Kinlaw (National Public Radio) hosted an AMA (Ask Me Anything) forum on Reddit on the topic of digital preservation. Questions from the audience included:

  • What is a good formula for recognizing what to actually archive and what to delete?
  • Do you keep material you can’t access in the hope that someday you can?
  • What are the ethical considerations when deleted objects are found?
  • And what general life advice would you give to a college student?
  • Are you planning on archiving this AMA?

Later that same afternoon, Muñoz was featured in a related piece on NPR’s All Things Considered that explored various aspects digital preservation, including personal and research collections.
